Established in
1992 and now has a membership of over 600.
A team of dedicated volunteers runs QARDSS with all funds generated
through membership, donations and fundraising.
QARDSS Objectives:
- QARDSS believes that people with asbestos
diseases should receive the best:
a. Medical attention
b. Legal advice
c. Emotional support
- To provide professional and specialist assistance
for those in need.
- To support and encourage the establishment
of a national register for people
who have contracted an asbestos disease.
- To disseminate information on asbestos and
the consequences of its use.
- To visit worksites and present information
to workers, employers and the
general public about asbestos.
- To encourage and support research into treatment,
prevention and cure of
asbestos related diseases.
- Maintain Milton Clarke House. This
house provides accommodation for members
who come to Brisbane for diagnosis or treatment, for carers
and family to stay
in or those who need a break.
